Cipolla Jewellery has at its disposal a technical staff specialized in repairs and goldsmith creations on every type of precious metal.
Any processing is carried out in our laboratory, using the traditional techniques of craftsmanship (openwork, forging, engravings, bulinatura etc.) in combination with the most innovative methods of high jewelry processing such as, 3D designs, wax creations from interactive images and so on.
In addition, our staff also takes care of the restoration and transformation of old jewelry, carries out polishes, rhodiums of white gold and yellow gold, welding, replacement of stones, recesses and repairs of all kinds.

• Repair

  The jewels of our production are the result of careful research and craftsmanship of great experience and competence.

  The Jewelry Cipolla carries out, in his goldsmith’s workshop in Palermo, repairs of your jewelry.

  Since 1950, the Cipolla family has been conveying the charm of its jewellery creations from generation to generation. With the passage of time, these jewels live in contact with those who buy them, thus being exposed to temperature changes, shocks and various external agents.

  Each repair service performed by our jewelry, especially by our goldsmiths specialists, includes:

  • a diagnosis with preventive;
  • start of the technical operation to be carried out on the jewel undergoing repair;
  • cleaning of the jewel according to its type and characteristics;
  • technical and aesthetic control according to the highest quality criteria.
• Jewelry welding

  Cipolla Jewelry carries out, in its goldsmith workshop in Palermo, the welding of your jewelry.

  How are the jewels welded

  Welding is the joint of two or more parts of the metal that allows to obtain a single body. This operation can be performed with different methods and techniques, however, traceable to three main systems:

  • Welding autogenous which consists in bringing to incipient fusion the edges of the metal parts to be joined that will then touch and incorporate;
  • Brazing which consists in reproducing the previous operation with the addition, on the edges of the two parts, of some filler metal of the same alloy, so as to merge them together creating a single body;
  • The "brazing" which consists in melting, between the parts to be joined, a metal filler alloy with a melting point lower than that of the metals concerned, so that the latter remain intact.

  Depending on the type of jewel, our specialized goldsmiths will use one of these methods to bring your jewel back to the perfect status of origin when you purchased it.

• Adjustment of the jewelry size

  The Cipolla Jewelry is responsible, within its goldsmith workshop in Palermo, for the adjustment of the measure of your bracelets, necklaces and rings, meeting your needs.

  Widen or narrow bracelets, necklaces and rings

  This service, which we apply to bracelets, necklaces or rings, consists in enlarging or restricting, as much as possible, the size of the jewel.
  This is a meticulous and delicate operation.
  The adjustment of the measure of your jewelry, performed in our goldsmith laboratory in Palermo, includes:

  • Diagnosis with a preventive;
  • Measurement adjustment
    - for example, to adjust the size of a ring, the body of the jewel is opened with a very thin saw. At this point the jeweler takes or adds a piece of metal and then, through special tools and pliers, joins the two separate pieces. For a necklace or a jewel with links, the measurement adjustment consists in removing or adding the links and then reassembling them;
  • Polishing with brushes previously immersed in three different abrasive pastes until obtaining a shiny surface;
  • Cleaning of the jewel, in particular of its less accessible parts. It is made by immersion in a bath of ultrasound and warm soapy water. Any creation of jewelry can be treated with ultrasound, except those with emeralds, pearls or stones considered too fragile;
  • Rhodium. To enhance the purity and brilliance of white gold, it is sometimes covered with a thin layer of rhodium, a rare and precious metal of the platinum family.

  This operation consists of:

  • Remove, before polishing, the remaining layer of rhodium in order to obtain a bare surface ready to accommodate the new layer;
  • Immerse the jewel, after polishing, in a rhodium bath to put the new thin layer of metal on the white gold;
  • Carry out a high technical and aesthetic inspection in accordance with our quality criteria.
• Creation/re-placement of lost or damaged jewellery

  Cipolla Jewelry carries out, in its goldsmith workshop in Palermo, the reproduction or reconstruction of a jewel that you have lost or has been damaged.

  Lost or damaged jewel? Here’s how we intervene

  The service of reconstruction of a jewel is proposed when it is technically impossible to adjust the size, repair it or when one of the elements has been lost.
  The reconstruction/creation service, carried out in our laboratory in Palermo, includes:

  • Diagnosis with free estimate ;
  • Reproduction of the jewel that varies depending on the nature and method of original manufacture of the product. To reproduce the jewel model as faithfully as possible, the jeweler will follow the steps shown here:
    - Consulting our registers to find the original design of the model and the corresponding mold;
    - Jewellery metal stamping;
    - Assembly of the different components of the jewel by welding;
    - Setting of stones;
    - Polishing with brushes soaked in three different abrasive pastes, until a shiny surface is obtained;
    - Cleaning of the jewel and in particular of the less accessible parts by immersion in a bath of ultrasound and warm soapy water. We always remember that any creation of jewelry can be treated with ultrasound, except those that have emeralds, pearls or stones considered too fragile;

  The restoration operation carried out by our jeweler artisans includes:

  • Diagnosis;
  • Drawing up a free estimate;
  • Stages of Restoration:
    - Welding, that is the assembly of two parts of a jewel through a torch thanks to which the metal brought to a very high temperature, loses any trace of oxidation by immersion of the jewel in an acid bath;
    - Restoration of the original shape of the jewel by means of a hammer;
    - Setting of the stones, extremely delicate operation as it could foresee the new realization of the jaws and the next frame to create a safe bezel;
    - Polishing with brushes previously immersed in three different abrasive pastes, until a shiny surface is obtained;

  We personalize your jewelry

  Inside our goldsmith’s workshop based in Palermo, our technicians will take care of customizing your watches, bracelets, necklaces or rings in a unique and original way. We engrave, within the allowed technical limits and depending on the space available, a name, a phrase in any language or a date or a drawing.

  Our service, includes:

  • Diagnosis of the jewel;
  • Final engraving on the metal according to the available surface. It is traditionally made with the burin, a tool that allows you to engrave excavated metal. To date, however, most engravings are made using laser, a technique that offers greater precision;
  • Cleaning the jewel, with immersion in an ultrasonic bath and warm soapy water;
  • High technical and aesthetic control in accordance with our quality criteria.

  N.B.: The engraving can be deleted or replaced by another.

• Rhodium plating of jewels

  How to make the gold and silver jewels shine again

  Through the electrolysis process, a very thin layer (1 micron) of rhodium is applied to the object. After thoroughly cleaning the object, it is immersed for 60 seconds in a rhodium-based solution (galvanic bath) and then rinsed and dried carefully.

  The rhodium plating of gold and silver objects not only has an aesthetic function but also allows you to protect your rings, necklaces or bracelets from oxidation and wear.

• Cleaning and threading of beads

  How to ensure a long life to jewelry with pearls

  In order to ensure the durability of your pearl jewelry, you should avoid any chemical agents present in perfumes, hair lacquers, creams, cosmetics or scented soaps.
  Our advice to protect your necklaces or your pearl bracelets and earrings is to clean them up every time you wear them, so as to eliminate from each pearl any traces of skin sweat or other agents. Just use a simple soft cloth and change the silk thread about every 1-2 years depending on the more or less frequent use of the jewel.
